LCSD1 Board of Trustees holding interviews for superintendent of schools position in late January

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Laramie County School District 1 Board of Trustees will be interviewing three candidates for the LCSD1 Superintendent of Schools position on Jan. 24, Jan. 29 and Jan. 31.

Stephen Newton is Laramie County School District 1’s interim superintendent of schools; Thomas
Meyer is superintendent of schools at Bellevue Community School District in Bellevue, Iowa; and Michael
Hamel is superintendent of schools at Carbon County School District in Rawlins. Résumés for each candidate are posted on the district website’s homepage under the “Superintendent Interviews” button.

Candidates will spend their day touring schools and meeting with district and community stakeholders. Stakeholders are invited to attend community forums, which will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. in the LCSD1 Board Room at 2811 House Ave. for each candidate on their respective interview day. Community members have an opportunity to submit questions for the candidate forums on a Google Forms questionnaire.

More details, including a Zoom link for those who wish to view a livestream of the forums, will be released prior to the interviews.

The interview schedule is as follows:

  • Stephen Newton: Wednesday, Jan. 24
  • Thomas Meyer: Monday, Jan. 29
  • Michael Hamel: Wednesday, Jan. 31.
