One finalist will be chosen from an elementary, junior high and high school within the county district. One of these finalists will then be nominated for a statewide teacher of the year achievement.

Educational support person nominees must have a minimum of one year of continuous employment with LCSD1 prior to their nomination. They must also continue to work for the district through the end of the 2023–24 school year. Supervisors are not eligible for nomination.
Two awards will be given to educational personnel or staff members. A staff member who works with students primarily will be awarded the “Student Support” award. Another person, one who primarily serves the district in other ways, will receive the “District Support” award.
