CHEYENNE, Wyo. — House District 43 will soon see a new legislator in its seat, as Republican Ann Lucas beat incumbent Rep. Dan Zwonitzer at the ballot box Tuesday.
A former finance executive and a longtime Republican Party activist, Lucas earned 799 votes, roughly 58% of the votes cast. Zwonitzer received 559 votes.
Zwonitzer had represented his district since 2005. He currently sits on several committees and boards, and is the chairman of the House Labor, Health and Social Services Committee and the Select Committee on Legislative Facilities, Technology and Process.
There is no Democratic Party candidate opposing Zwonitzer in the general election, though the last day for independent filing is Aug. 26.
All election results are unofficial until ratified by the state.
