CHEYENNE, Wyo. — House District 8 candidate Steve Johnson defeated incumbent Rep. David Zwontizer and challenger Cayd Batchelor in a hard-fought primary race on Tuesday to advance to an uncontested general election.
Johnson received 1,183 votes, roughly 49% of all votes cast. Zwonitzer received 1,134 votes, while Batchelor earned 78 votes.
Johnson is a third-generation businessman who made his living as a commercial general contractor in Laramie County.
He does not have a Democratic Party challenger in the general election, but the deadline for independent filing is Aug. 26.
All election results are unofficial until ratified by the state.
