CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Senate District 6 candidate Darin Smith easily earned enough votes to move on to the general election following a primary battle against five other candidates.
Smith received 942 votes, roughly 43% of the total votes cast. Taft C. Love received 385 votes, Kim Withers got 278, Marc Torriani earned 265, Eric D. Johnston got 261 and Gary Bjorklund earned 48.
Ahead of Election Day, Smith secured the endorsement of former President Donald Trump and outgoing Sen. Anthony Bouchard, who decided not to run for reelection.
No Democratic Party candidates filed in the primary, but the last day for independents to file for the general election is Aug. 26.
All election results are unofficial until ratified by the state.
