CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Two current trustees and a new face will be serving four-year terms for the Laramie County School District 1 Board of Trustees starting in December.
Trustees Alicia Smith and Brittany Ashby, who sought reelection, received enough votes in Tuesday’s election to serve another term on the board. Meanwhile, Barbara Cook earned the highest number of votes to fill the board’s third open spot.
Seven candidates ran in total. The four others consisted of current board chair Tim Bolin and new candidates Shelia Kistler, Kaleigh Rehm and Paul Bankes.
The following is the final vote count for each candidate, per results from the Laramie County Clerk’s Office:
- Barbara Cook: 14,516
- Alicia Smith: 13,674
- Brittany Ashby: 13,652
- Shelia Kistler: 11,786
- Kaleigh Rehm: 10,820
- Paul Bankes: 10,805
- Tim Bolin: 8,918
- Write-In Totals: 565
- Total Votes Cast: 84,736
The new board members will take their oath of office on or before the first day of December, according to Mary Quast, director of community relations at LCSD1.
