CASPER, Wyo. — U.S. Rep. Harriet Hageman will retain her seat in Congress after defeating Democratic Party challenger Kyle Cameron, as the Associated Press recently called her race with just over a fifth of the state’s ballots tallied.

According to preliminary election results from the Associated Press, Hageman has received 48,593 votes, or roughly 74%, out of the 22% of votes currently counted. Cameron has received 14,604 votes.

Hageman, who is wrapping up her first term in the U.S. House of Representatives, handily defeated Republican Steve Helling in September’s primary election.

Hageman was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2022, unseating former Rep. Liz Cheney. In her first term, Hageman has served on several subcommittees within the Committee on the Judiciary and the Committee on Natural Resources.
