CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Laramie County’s average price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline fell for a second straight week as the national average declined ever so slightly for the third consecutive week.
The nation’s average declined 0.6 cents compared to a week ago and stands at $3.03 per gallon, according to GasBuddy data compiled from more than 12 million individual price reports. The national average is down 8.9 cents from a month and 36.7 cents from a year ago.
The national average price of diesel has decreased 2.1 cents in the last week to stand at $3.608 per gallon.
“The average price of gasoline in the U.S. hasn’t been this low in March since 2021, when the pandemic significantly reduced demand and kept prices suppressed. This time around, caution is also playing a role in keeping prices lower — particularly uncertainty over tariffs, which is likely having a moderate impact,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
“Concerns about the direction of the economy could have a major influence on fuel prices in the months ahead, especially with the high level of uncertainty surrounding tariffs,” he added. “Additionally, OPEC+ announced last week that it would gradually begin restoring oil production after nearly two years of cuts, adding further downward pressure on oil prices. As a result, the typical seasonal rise in gas prices has yet to materialize, and if and when it does, it may be considerably smaller than expected.”
On Monday, AAA reported the national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline at $3.09 per gallon, down 5 cents from last week. Wyoming’s average is $2.99, equal to last week. Laramie County’s average fell to $2.88, down 3 cents, leaving it among the cheapest of the state’s average county gas prices.
Natrona County’s average of $2.74, down 3 cents, remained the cheapest in the state, according to AAA. Uinta County overtook Albany County for the second cheapest average in Wyoming, falling 11 cents to $2.75. Albany County now has the third cheapest average at $2.80 after falling 2 cents from last week.
The cheapest fuel in Laramie County today is $2.74 at Sam’s Club, 1948 Dell Range Blvd., followed by $2.75 at Maverik, 8100 Hutchins Drive; Pilot, 8020 Campstool Road; Walmart, 580 Livingston Ave.; and TA Travel Center, 4000 Interstate 80 Service Road, according to GasBuddy’s report.

OIL PRICES
With the continued threat of tariffs on major U.S. trading partners, oil markets continue to show concern, and with OPEC+ announcing last week an increase in oil production starting in April, crude oil prices have come under selling pressure. In early Monday trade, WTI crude oil was up 37 cents to $67.41 per barrel, down from $69.99 per barrel a week ago. Brent crude oil was also trading slightly higher in early Monday trade, rising 40 cents to $70.76 per barrel, virtually unchanged from $70.70 per barrel a week ago. Look for oil prices to remain under selling pressure, though with Russia signaling the production restoration could be slower than anticipated if oil prices remain weak.OIL AND REFINED PRODUCTS

Gasoline inventories fell 1.4 million barrels, while distillate inventories fell by 1.3 million barrels with refineries operating at an 85.9% utilization rate, a drop of 0.6 percentage points from a week ago. Implied gasoline demand, EIA’s proxy for retail demand, jumped 423,000 bpd to 8.877 million barrels per day.
