CASPER, Wyo. — The Big Horn Equestrian Center outside of Sheridan announced on Monday, June 15 that an Independence Day fireworks show will go on with the cooperation of the community.

“We are pleased to announce that the 32nd Annual Fireworks and Big Horn Lions Club fundraising event is planned for Saturday, July 4, 2020,” the equestrian center said. “We invite the community to celebrate our country’s birthday at the Big Horn Equestrian Center.”

The event will see some changes this year due to COVID-19. The equestrian center provided the following details regarding the event:

  • The gates won’t open until 5:30 pm and people are asked not to come before that time
  • There will be no bands or other live entertainment besides the fireworks show
  • People can bring their own food or drink
  • Food or drink will be available for purchase from vendors
  • The clubhouse will be serving adult beverages
  • Vendors are required to follow social distancing and food safety precautions
  • People are asked to maintain distance between cars
  • People are asked to consume food and beverages in the proximity of their own parking space
  • Staff will wear masks and gloves when in close proximity of others
  • Visitors are encouraged to wear masks when in close proximity to people from other households
  • Hand sanitizer and wash stations will be available at portable toilet locations

“The ability to hold this event can be revoked if necessary based on the outbreak metrics in Sheridan County,” the equestrian center said. “We are so fortunate to be able to hold a gathering of this size. It is our hope that that we all can keep each other safe so that we can continue to provide community-based activities at the Equestrian Center throughout the summer and fall.”

Funds raised for the Big Horn Lions Club will help fund scholarships for local students and “to provide the gift of sight to those in our community in need,” the equestrian center added.

“As is the case each year, this event is dependent upon the weather and other unforeseen circumstances,” the announcement adds. “Watch the Big Horn Equestrian Center Facebook page for the most current updates.”

“Please help us celebrate our nation’s birthday! Be Safe, be Kind and be Responsible.”
