PHOTOS: Intermountain Speedway kicks off summer schedule Saturday with set of races

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — On Saturday, area racing enthusiasts got their fix for the first time this year at Intermountain Speedway as the paved track off South Greeley Highway got going with its summer schedule.

The speedway — currently the only paved racing surface in Wyoming — will have weekly Saturday night races throughout the summer until mid-September, bringing in drivers from across the Mountain West to square off at the fifth of-a-mile–long oval.

Several car classes squared off during Saturday’s opening-night races, filling the air with the smell of gasoline and sound of raw horsepower. Below is a Cap City News photo gallery from the festivities:
