Auditions open for ‘Dorothy in Wonderland’ at Mary Godfrey Playhouse

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A unique theatrical experience is coming to Cheyenne, blending the magical worlds of Oz and Wonderland. The Mary Godfrey Playhouse is announcing auditions for its upcoming production, “Dorothy in Wonderland,” directed by Veronica Johnson.

In this imaginative crossover, characters from Oz find themselves in the mysterious Wonderland. Both Dorothy and Alice, lost in this curious place, embark on an adventure to find their way back home.

Actors will engage in cold readings from the scripts, available for checkout at the Mary Godfrey Playhouse. For younger children, cuttings for readings will be accessible to view with parents before auditions. The auditions are scheduled for Monday, Jan. 8 and Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Playhouse, 2706 E. Pershing Blvd.

The show runs from March 1 to March 17, with a special performance for elementary schools on Thursday, March 14 at 10 a.m. Candidates must be available for all performances to be cast. Rehearsals commence on Jan. 10 at 6:30 p.m. and will run Mondays through Fridays from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m.

The play features a diverse range of characters for ages 6–18. Key roles include Dorothy, Toto, Scarecrow, Lion, Tin Man and the Wizard from Oz, and the White Rabbit, Rose, Tiger Lily, Tulip, Caterpillar and Queen of Hearts from Wonderland, among others.
