Superday 2024: A celebration of fun and community in Cheyenne

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The City of Cheyenne Community Recreation & Events Department is set to host Superday 2024 on Saturday, June 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at South Lions Park. This annual event is getting an early start on National Parks and Recreation Month, highlighting the importance of local recreation and leisure activities.

Superday 2024 promises a day full of exciting activities and family fun. Starting at 10 a.m., attendees can enjoy a variety of events, including a DJ performance by Steve Narvais, paddle boats at Sloan Lake Beach and a range of vendors and food trucks. Children can explore the Kidzone, touch various trucks in the Touch-A-Truck exhibit and enjoy train rides throughout the park.

Tournaments Galore

The day kicks off with the Tour de Prairie at 6:30 a.m. and the Pickleball Tournament at 8 a.m. The pickleball event, sponsored by HF Sinclair, welcomes players of all skill levels from 2.0 to 3.5. Doubles teams can register for $35. Beginners are encouraged to participate. For more information, contact Harley Tekerman at htekerman@cheyennecity.org.

Cornhole enthusiasts can also join the fun at the second annual Cornhole Tournament near Dunbar Field. Registration opens on Monday, March 25. Individuals can register for $25, while teams can join for $35. Forms are available at the Kiwanis Community House.

Family-Friendly Games

Field Day Games offer various activities for all ages, including a wheelbarrow race at 10 a.m.; a head, shoulder, knees, and cup game at 11 a.m.; and a three-legged race at noon. The games continue in the afternoon with limbo; red light, green light; and tug-of-war.

The squirt gun fight at the Botanic Gardens Children’s Village at 1 p.m. is expected to be a highlight. Kids and adults alike can join in the refreshing fun, making this a memorable experience for the whole family.

Promoting Local Recreation

Superday aims to increase awareness of the value and availability of local recreation. The event is an excellent opportunity for community members to engage in various activities and enjoy the amenities Cheyenne has to offer.
