CHEYENNE, Wyo. — F.E. Warren Air Force Base will host its annual Fort D.A. Russell Days from July 19 to July 21. This three-day event, free and open to the public, offers a unique opportunity to explore the base’s mission and rich history.
Visitors can expect modern military displays, including demonstrations by security forces’ working dogs, tours of missile trainers and explosive ordnance disposal showcases. “The Leap Frogs,” the U.S. Navy Parachute Team, will perform thrilling jumps, and the Commanding Generals’ Mounted Color Guard will showcase cavalry tactics, according to an announcement by the base.
The event also features extensive living history presentations, with reenactments from the Revolutionary War through World War II. The Buffalo Soldiers of the American West will highlight the contributions of African American cavalry regiments, while The Trotters will perform precision riding drills.
Free shuttle buses will run from the Cheyenne Frontier Days grounds to the base from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, making transportation convenient. Access to the base is through Gate 1 off Randall Avenue, where adults must present a photo ID, and vehicles may be subject to random checks.
