CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Ever-eager readers and free thinkers are in for a night of thought-provoking discussions and presentations this coming fall.
In the midst of the coming autumn season, the Laramie County Library Foundation will be hosting its largest annual gala and staple community event, the Booklovers Bash. The event is set to take place from 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 25 at Little America Resort & Hotel and will feature author presentations, book signings, a cocktail reception, a dinner and a “Dessert Dash,” per the foundation’s website.
As a 503(c)(3) nonprofit, LCLF strives to raise funds to support county library needs, such as bolstering its programming, boosting its services and expanding its selection of award-winning books. The organization believes in every individual’s quest to learn and make libraries last for lifetimes to come.
“It’s sure to be a fun, thought-provoking event that supports a good cause and strengthens our community,” foundation director Amanda Turner told Cap City News.
The fundraiser’s special guest will be award-winning author and journalist Patrick Radden Keefe. He is author of the true crime books “Say Nothing: A True Story of Murder” and “The Snakehead: An Epic Tale of the Chinatown Underworld and the American Dream.” He is also a staff writer for “The New Yorker” and has won a myriad of honors for his reporting, such as the National Book Critics’ Circle Award for “Say Nothing” and the Baillie Gifford Prize for his New York Times bestseller “Empire of Pain: The Secret History of the Sackler Dynasty.” Keefe is also behind the investigative podcast series “Wind of Change,” which examines the relation between Cold War espionage and 1980s hair metal music.
