CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Cheyenne residents should mark their calendars, as a weekend block party will be bringing fun for the entire family later this month.

Cheyenne’s First Christian Church announced Tuesday that it’s hosting a community block party from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21. This event is not just a celebration of the city’s vibrant community, but also a kickoff for the church’s U&I 4 USI fundraising campaign.

The block party will be in the church parking lot between 26th Street and Capitol Avenue. The event will feature the following:

  • Community gathering and networking opportunities
  • A variety of local food trucks
  • Balloon twister entertainment by Alpaca Globo from 5:15 to 7:15 p.m.
  • Family-friendly activities
  • Information booths about the U&I 4 USI campaign

This event serves a dual purpose: to bring the community together and raise awareness and funds for the Unaccompanied Students Initiative, or USI. The U&I 4 USI campaign aims to build a second home for homeless teen mothers in Cheyenne. To read more about the campaign, click here.

As community leaders and influencers, everyone’s presence would greatly enhance this event, the church stated. The event will allow attendees to connect with constituents and support a worthy cause. Invitations have been sent to the following community figures:

  • Mayor Patrick Collins
  • Members of the Cheyenne City Council
  • State representatives and senators
  • Laramie County commissioners
  • School district officials
  • Local business leaders
  • Nonprofit organization leaders
