Railspur hosts medieval duels, family fun at Autumn Knights

Event features live swordplay, creative crafts, local treats for all ages

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The clang of swords, the sweetness of cotton candy and the warmth of honey mead filled the air Saturday during the Autumn Knights event at the Railspur in Cheyenne. Held from noon to 6 p.m. Nov. 16, the gathering combines historical martial arts demonstrations with family-friendly activities and local vendor offerings.

Historical European Martial Arts — or HEMA — Cheyenne took center stage, captivating attendees with live duels and skillful demonstrations of longsword and rapier techniques. Dressed in colorful and protective garb, participants squared off in dynamic sparring sessions, showcasing the precision and artistry of the martial discipline.

While the duels drew a crowd upstairs, families downstairs were busy crafting potion bottle terrariums with Sunshine Plant Co. The colorful setup invited kids and adults alike to create whimsical plant displays, bringing a touch of magic to the event.

Food and drinks kept attendees energized throughout the day. Gringos Sweet Treats offered a dazzling variety of cotton candy, while Wyoming Honey Mead added its own unique festival flair. Smoked turkey legs and apple strudel added a hearty touch to the menu.

The event blended medieval traditions with modern-day fun, providing a unique experience for all ages. Vibrant murals, instrumental tunes and cheerful vendors further enhanced the medieval atmosphere.
