CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The following is a list of events going on in Wyoming’s capital city this weekend. This list focuses on curating local events that are free, family friendly and  community-based. Some listings may be seasonal and require an entrance fee or ticket. Weekly recurring events in the community are typically not included in this list. Saturday

Alta Vista Craft Fair 2024

Where: 1514 E. 16th St.
When: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

If you are interested in being a vendor, contact Casey at Alta Vista Elementary. We do not accept Venmo, Cash App or Paypal. We only accept cash and checks written out to the school. DO NOT pay anyone else in any other form of payment! 


Family Day: Space

Where: Wyoming State Museum, 2301 Central Ave.
When: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Journey with us to the great unknown!

Find out what it takes for humans to get to space and what we can discover while we’re there. You’ll get to talk to an aerospace engineer and other experts from the UW Planetarium, Science Initiative Roadshow, Cheyenne Animal Shelter, UW College of Engineering and NASA Space Grant Consortium! And as always, enjoy crafts, games and education.

A Very Merry Flea Market Christmas

Where: 920 S. Greeley Highway
When: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Take in some holiday smells and tastes while meeting the vendors and make some deals. Get some unique great last-minute gifts and décor for Christmas at this fun event!


Running of the Santas

Where: Railspur, 707 W. Lincolnway
When: 3 p.m.

Get ready to jingle all the way down 15th Street in Downtown Cheyenne for the Old West Holiday Running of the Santas! This festive mini-run invites you to don your best Santa suit, grab some friends and join in on a one-of-a-kind adventure through the best of 15th Street’s bars and businesses.

Join us on Saturday starting at Railspur and finishing at the Depot Lobby. Registration check-in begins at 3 p.m. and race lineup kicks off at 4 p.m. You must be 21+ with a valid ID to enter this merry adventure.

Participants will collect cards from each stop and enjoy sweet treats, beers, festive cocktails and mini-games along the way. Whether you’re in it for the medals, the holly-jolly atmosphere or just a little holiday mischief, it’s holiday fun for everyone.

So, dust off those Santa hats and warm up your sleigh bells — it’s going to be a December night to remember!

Indoor Drive-In Movie – ‘Home Alone’

Where: Event Center at Archer, 3801 Archer Parkway
When: 6 p.m.

Admission is FREE although drive-in vehicle space is limited. Registration is required for vehicles.

Lawn-seating is FREE and available on a walk-in, first-come, first-served basis. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets for seating up front on our main floor (concrete). We have plenty of seating space, so bring the whole family! Popcorn and soda provided at no charge, thanks to our sponsors. Additional concessions will be available for purchase.


Sunday

Poetry Open Mic

Where: The Hawthorn Tree, 112 E. 17th St.
When: 1–3 p.m.

Join us for a poetry open mic. Each poet gets five minutes to read, but we occasionally go two rounds, so bring extra poems. Arrive five minutes early to sign up.


Seventh Annual Holiday Collage

Where: Laramie County Community College, 1194 E. College Drive
When: 3 p.m.

The LCCC Music Department Presents: “The Seventh Annual Holiday Collage.” A concert night to remember with seasonal music performed by LCCC Music Ensembles. The concert will be held on Sunday, Dec. 8 at the Surbrugg/Prentice Auditorium @ 3 p.m. Free and open to the public.

Bird Counts & Birds Count

Where: Laramie County Library, 2200 Pioneer Ave.
When: 4–5 p.m.

Join a volunteer from Cheyenne High Plains Audubon Society to explore how and why we count birds! Grades 2–6.


Earring Making Class

Where: Laramie County Library, 2200 Pioneer Ave.
When: 4–6:30 p.m.

Teen jewelry-maker Grace Lyles is back for another earring crafting event — but with a holiday twist! We will learn how to use wire, jewelry-making tools and more to craft your own set of earrings! Supplies are extremely limited, so make sure to sign up here soon!
