CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Families braved the January chill today to enjoy a warm and cozy pajama party at the Wyoming State Museum. The event, part of the museum’s monthly Family Day series, celebrated the wonders of winter through crafts, games and learning activities.
Parents and children, many dressed in colorful pajamas, explored how animals and nature adapt to winter. The Cheyenne Animal Shelter engaged attendees with tips on keeping pets safe during the cold months, while museum staff showcased winter-themed collections.
Throughout the day, kids participated in fun activities such as the “penguin shuffle” and “snowball toss.” They also learned about hibernation and other survival strategies used by animals during winter. Story time sessions at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. brought the magic of winter alive with tales about snowy adventures and wildlife.
The Barrett Creek Coffee truck outside kept parents warm, offering hot drinks to fuel the fun. Inside, attendees visited a hot cocoa station to create custom kits with marshmallows and other goodies.
Families also gathered at craft tables to create bear cave dioramas, yarn-wrapped decorations and paper foxes. Before leaving, museum staff encouraged attendees to return next month for “I Heart Art,” February’s Family Day event. Scheduled for Feb. 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2301 Central Ave., the program will highlight drawing, sculpting, wildlife photography and dance, offering a creative experience for all ages. You can register for the event at the Wyoming State Museum website.
