CHEYENNE, Wyo. – The Wyoming Department of Health reported 858 new laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 during their 3 pm Friday, Nov. 20 update.
That brings the total to 23,347 since the start of the pandemic. 102 probable cases were also reported on Friday, bringing the total to 3,782.
The state has been adding an average of 606.8 new confirmed cases per day for the last 14 days. On Thursday, Nov. 19, the 14-day average was 570.6 such cases.
21 additional COVID-19 related deaths among Wyoming residents, including 9 Natrona County resident were reported on Thursday. The WDH reports a total of 176 COVID-19 related deaths among the state’s residents since the pandemic began.
As of Friday, morning, Wyoming’s effective reproduction rate of the virus stood at 1.14, according to Rt.live. The number reflects the average number of new cases each case is expected to create. Anytime the effective reproduction rate is above 1.0, COVID-19 is expected to spread quickly.
The WDH reported 219 COVID-19 patients hospitalized across Wyoming on Friday, ten more than were reported Thursday. That is also nine more than the previous record of 210 reported Wednesday. COVID hospitalizations crossed the 200 mark for the first time on Saturday, Nov 14.
1,212 new recoveries from a lab confirmed case were reported Friday, for a total of 14,029. An additional 200 probable case recoveries were also reported for a total of 2,287.
