CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Crews with Simon Contractors and the Wyoming Department of Transportation will implement traffic shifts at the intersection of U.S. Highway 85/Central Avenue and Yellowstone Road on Monday, weather permitting.
The work marks the final phase of a slab replacement project. Crews will replace concrete slabs in the center of the intersection, requiring intermittent lane closures, according to a press release by WYDOT.
During this phase, motorists can expect one lane of travel on Yellowstone Road and turn lane closures from Central Avenue to Yellowstone. Lane closures will be phased to minimize disruption, and traffic signal timings will be adjusted for optimal flow.
Drivers should anticipate delays and increased queue lengths. Heavy equipment will be in use, and loud noise is expected during the work. WYDOT urges drivers to stay alert, obey posted signs and signals and avoid distractions when traveling through the work zone.
The project is expected to be completed by early January, though the schedule may change due to weather or material availability.
