CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The inaugural “Frozen Fury on the Plains” event, set for Feb. 10 at 6 p.m. at the Event Center at Archer, is not just any rodeo. This futurity rodeo, a collaboration between Visit Cheyenne and Laramie County Events, is looking to build a new generation of rodeo.
In a futurity rodeo, both the horses and cowboys are young and relatively inexperienced. The event will showcase 4- and 5-year-old bucking broncs, providing stock contractors an opportunity to enhance their animals’ growth in a competitive setting.
The cowboys, consisting of non-PRCA contestants, PRCA permit holders and PRCA rookies, will also gain essential experience.
Competitors have much to look forward to, with a prize purse of approximately $10,000 for the cowboys and a substantial $22,000 for the stock contractors.
Attendees can enjoy various food concessions and a selection of beverages, including beer, wine and liquor. The event will also feature a small selection of western vendors, adding to the rodeo atmosphere.
While the current plan is to proceed regardless of weather, extreme conditions that impede stock transport or lead to road closures by the county may force cancellation. In such cases, ticket refunds will be issued.
“Frozen Fury on the Plains” promises a unique experience, showcasing the potential of young rodeo talent. Don’t miss this opportunity to witness the future of rodeo in Cheyenne. Secure your tickets now for a glimpse into the next generation of rodeo stars.
