CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Post Six baseball has announced that Coach Gary Harley is stepping back into the dugout for his 13th season with the team, bringing a wealth of experience from both the collegiate level and years of dedicated service to the program.
Before his long tenure with Post Six, Coach Harley honed his coaching skills in the collegiate ranks, guiding players at the Junior College, NAIA and NCAA Division 2 levels. His return to Cheyenne signifies more than a homecoming; it marks the continuation of a tradition steeped in excellence and community.
In his expansive career with Post Six, Harley has contributed significantly to the program’s success.
“Every year Gary has been a part of the varsity program as a player and coach, The Sixers won a State Title for a total of 10,” the team stated in an announcement.
Harley’s coaching philosophy is deeply influenced by the mentors he’s worked alongside, including Post 6 Hall of Famers like Tagg Lain and the late Mark Robert.
“I’ve been so blessed to play for and coach alongside so many great men in my life,” Harley states.
To Harley, being a Sixer is more than just a commitment to baseball; it’s a lifelong identity.
“Outside of my family, nothing has been in my life as long as my Post 6 family. I love being a Sixer and representing everything that Post 6 is about,” Harley states.
Beyond the baseball diamond, Coach Harley is also shaping young lives as a middle school PE/Health teacher in the Laramie County School District. His role in education complements his coaching, as both avenues allow him to mentor youth.
As the Post Six baseball program looks forward to another season, the return of Coach Harley promises to continue the legacy of excellence and mentorship that has become synonymous with the Sixers.
