Eight Cowboys earn seeds ahead of Big 12 Championships

LARAMIE, Wyo. — The Big 12 released its championship brackets Monday. A total of eight Cowboys garnered a seed at their respective weight.

Jore Volk (125) led the way, reeling in the No. 5 seed. He compiled a 19-6 overall record, which included a 7-6 mark against ranked competition. The Big 12 has six NCAA allocations at 125 pounds.

Joey Novak (197) pulled the No. 6 seed. He’s 18-10 on the season with a half dozen ranked wins. The Big 12 has six NCAA allocations at 197 pounds.

Gabe Willochell (149) garnered the No. 7 seed. He’s 16-8 on the year with one ranked win. The Big 12 has six NCAA allocations at 149 pounds.

Cole Brooks (141) pulled in the No. 8 seed. He’s 13-5 on the season with a ranked win. The Big 12 has five NCAA allocations at 141 pounds.

Garrett Ricks (133) was seeded No. 8. He’s 9-8 on the season with a pair of ranked wins. The Big 12 has six NCAA allocations at 133 pounds.

Cooper Voorhees (165) is the No. 8 seed. He’s 13-14 on the year and 7-3 at his current weight classification. The Big 12 has six allocations at 165 pounds.

Ethan Ducca (184) reeled in the No. 8 seed. He owns a 7-3 record after battling an injury for most of the season. The Big 12 has five NCAA allocations at 184 pounds.

Kevin Zimmer (HWT) was awarded the No. 8 seed. He’s 10-8 on the year. The Big 12 has five NCAA allocations at heavyweight.

Sloan Swan (157) and Quayin Short (174) go into the championships unseeded. Swan is 13-6 on the season and is operating in a 157-pound bracket that has six NCAA allocations. Short is 11-13 and is in a bracket that has six NCAA allocations.

The Big Championships run Saturday and Sunday. They take place in Tulsa, Oklahoma, inside the BOK Center.
