LARAMIE, Wyo. — In the team’s final batch of non-conference games, the Wyoming Cowgirls volleyball team will host the UniWyo Invite in Laramie through the rest of the week. The 6–2 Cowgirls will take on the Coppin State Eagles, the University at Albany Great Danes and the University of Utah Utes all at home at the UniWyo Sports Complex.

Coppin State University

The Cowgirls face the Eagles first at 6 p.m. Thursday. Coppin State is 0–5 in road matches this year and 4–8 overall. The team is also coming off a four-game losing streak.

According to the University of Wyoming Athletics Department, Coppin State is hitting at just .184 for the season while its opponents are hitting at an average of .246.

State University of New York at Albany

The Great Danes are in a similar away-game rut as the Coppin State Eagles. Albany has a 1–5 away game record and 3–6 record overall. The school is hitting at .170 to its opponents’ .212, according to UAlbany’s athletics website.

Compared to Wyoming’s .234 average attack percentage, the Cowgirls have a clear advantage efficiency-wise. UW’s average blocks per game sits at 3.00 coming into the weekend, ranking fifth nationally in that statistic, making the Cowgirls a formidable opponent.

The Cowgirls take on the Great Danes second at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

University of Utah

The Utes, however, have a perfect 3–0 road record and a 7–1 record overall. The team is hitting at .265 this season compared to .124 from opponents and has a well-rounded roster. The match between Wyoming and Utah will close out the weekend at 1 p.m. Saturday.

According to the University of Wyoming Athletics website, tickets are currently available to all above-listed games. General admission for adults is $10, while kids get in for $5. Floor-level chairs closer to the court are also available for $25, but are limited in supply. As always, University of Wyoming students can enter any of the games for free.
