LARAMIE, Wyo. — The Wyoming Cowboys will return to the hardwood on Sunday when they host Tennessee State for a 2 p.m. contest in the Arena-Auditorium. It marks the second game of the Sundance Wicks era after Wyoming opened the season with a win against Concordia-St. Paul on Monday.
Wyoming heads into the contest on the heels of a 108–85 game on Monday. The Pokes shot 54% from the field in the contest, and held CSP to a subpar 39%. Wyoming also held an impressive 53–33 advantage on the glass and scored 78 points in the paint.
Wyoming had six players score double figures in the opener. The Pokes were led in scoring by Obi Agbim’s 25 points and six assists. Center Scottie Ebube added 19 points on 9-of-12 shooting. Cole Henry finished 12 points and five rebounds. Jordan Nesbitt added 11 points and a career-high 16 rebounds in the contest with eight on each end of the floor. Kobe Newton added 11 points with a career-high four two-point baskets; he had three all last season. Touko Tainamo added 10 points for the Cowboys off the bench.
Tennessee State is led by Ronald Jessamy, who is averaging 16.5 points per game through two games. He also leads the team with eight rebounds per game. Jessamy is also shooting an excellent 68.4% from the field. Carlous Williams adds 15 points per night and 6.5 rebounds for Tennessee State. And Justus Jackson leads the team with six assists per game.
