CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The University of Wyoming has produced several NFL players currently making an impact. Here’s how they did in the most recent week’s slate of games.
Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills
The Bills’ star quarterback’s performance was a mixed bag on Sunday. However, it was still more than enough to help his team to victory, as the Bills downed the Indianapolis Colts 30–20.
Allen threw for 280 yards, his third-highest total for a game this year. Despite that, it came via an inefficient 22-of-37 performance that also included a pair of interceptions and no passing touchdowns. Allen did manage to find the end zone on the ground, however, rushing for a touchdown and 50 yards in the game.
On the season, Allen’s 2,231 passing yards are eighth best in the league. His 17 passing TDs put him in a three-way tie for the second most in the league.
Frank Crum, Denver Broncos
Crum, a rookie offensive lineman for the Broncos, was inactive on Sunday as his team lost 16–14 to the Kansas City Chiefs. It marked the second straight week without playing time for Crum.
Crum has seen limited action in six games this season and sat out for four others for the 5–5 Broncos.
Tashaun Gipson Sr., San Francisco 49ers
After missing the first several weeks of the season due to suspension, Gipson — a veteran safety with 12 years in the league under his belt — was added to the 49ers’ active roster this week. However, he still did not see any playing time in his team’s 23–20 win over Tampa Bay.
Gipson was a key piece of the San Francisco defensive unit in the 2023–24 season. He missed the first six weeks of the season because of a suspension for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing policy and then spent three weeks on the team’s practice squad before being elevated to the active roster.
Carl Granderson, New Orleans Saints
Despite playing over 50 defensive snaps in his team’s 20–17 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, Granderson had an unusually quiet outing.
Granderson did not record a single tackle in the game, though he deflected a pair of Falcon passes.
Despite seeing a diminished role from the prior season, Granderson has still had a solid 2024–25 season thus far with 34 tackles, 3.5 sacks, five tackles for loss and one forced fumble.
Chad Muma, Jacksonville Jaguars
Muma did not record a statistic in his team’s 12–7 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.
Muma, who took the field for 11 defensive downs, has 28 tackles so far this season.
Logan Wilson, Cincinnati Bengals
It was another strong week for Wilson, the Bengals’ star linebacker. However, it wasn’t enough to propel the team to victory, as the Bengals lost a heartbreaker to the Baltimore Ravens, 35–34.
Wilson logged eight tackles in the loss, and he still has yet to record fewer than eight in a game this season.
Wilson’s 96 tackles so far this season put him at the fifth most in the entire NFL.
Andrew Wingard, Jacksonville Jaguars
Like Gipson, Wingard made his first appearance on an active roster this week after being on the injured reserve for the opening weeks of the season. Unlike Gipson, Wingard took the field in his first week back.
Wingard recorded a single tackle in his first game of the season.
Last year, Wingard finished with 45 tackles and a clutch interception in a contest against the Steelers.
