Cowboys prepare for Tulane to open Cancun Challenge on Tuesday

LARAMIE, Wyo. — The Wyoming Cowboys basketball team is readying to head to the Yucatán Peninsula for the 2024 Cancun Challenge. The Pokes open action on Tuesday at 4 p.m. against American Conference foe Tulane.

Wyoming heads to Cancun with a 4–1 overall record after defeating Southeastern Louisiana 64–61 on Friday evening in Laramie. The Pokes are grabbing 44.4 rebounds per game, the best rate in the Mountain West Conference and 12th best in the nation. Offensively, the Cowboys are averaging 77.6 points per game while shooting 46% from the field. Defensively, they hold opponents to 42%.

The Tulane Green Wave heads into the contest with a 4–2 record, averaging 77.7 points per game and allowing 63.7 per game. Tulane is shooting 43% from the field and holding opponents to 35%.

The Cowboys are led in scoring by Obi Agbim’s 17.4 points per game. He adds 3.0 assists per game and is shooting 53% from the field and 50% from behind the arc.

Kobe Newton adds 12.3 points per game and is shooting 57.1% from the field. Jordan Nesbitt adds 11 points per game and leads the team with 10.8 rebounds per night, ranking first in the conference in rebounding and eighth in the nation.

Tulane is led by Kaleb Banks, who is posting 17.7 points and eight rebounds per game. Rowan Brumbaugh adds 12.5 points per game and leads the team with 33 assists.
