LARAMIE, Wyo. — Redshirt freshman Abou Magassa is the University of Wyoming men’s basketball team’s first player this season to earn a conference accolade. After a standout night against the Lobos Jan. 8, he has been named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week.

The 6-foot-7, 215-pound forward from Morsang-sur-Orge, France, scored 10 points against the University of New Mexico, which is currently the second best-performing school in the entire Mountain West, and was a perfect 5–5 on the floor. On top of his career-high 10 points, Magassa also put up five rebounds.

Besides his statistical contributions on both sides of the court, Magassa excelled in flourish. He put up two big dunks over the Lobos in some critical moments, although the team would eventually falter and lose 61–53.
