Portions of I-25, I-80 closed to light, high-profile vehicles amid high winds Friday

CASPER, Wyo. — High winds Friday afternoon have prompted the closure of portions of Interstates 25 and 80 to light, high-profile vehicles by the Wyoming Department of Transportation.

I-25 is closed from Cheyenne to Douglas and I-80 is closed from Laramie to Elk Mountain to wind-prone traffic as of 2:45 p.m. Friday. The closure also applies to US 30/287 between Laramie and Walcott Junction.

Extreme blowover risk is also advised on WY 487 between WY 220 (Clark’s Corner) and Medicine Bow.

Gusts of 50–65 mph are expected across some areas of southeast Wyoming through the afternoon. Winds should diminish through the evening, the National Weather Service said.
