Snowy weekend possible for Cheyenne area

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Cheyenne-area residents may be able to enjoy a white Christmas, as the National Weather Service in Cheyenne is predicting a snowy Saturday and Sunday leading into the holiday.

Today features a chance of rain and snow before 2 p.m., followed by a chance of rain from 2 to 5 p.m. and a chance of more rain and snow after 5. Conditions can be expected to remain overcast and mostly cloudy throughout the day, with a high temperature nearing 48 degrees.

At night, a wintry mix is likely before 8 p.m., followed by patchy snow beginning around 11 p.m. and continuing through the rest of the night.

After sundown, the area is also expected to see strong winds of up to 35 mph, the NWS in Cheyenne reports.

Christmas Eve’s forecast includes a 50% chance of snow, mainly before noon. As the day progresses, the chance of precipitation will fall from 50% to around 20%. It will again be a mostly cloudy day, with a steady temperature around 23.
