CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Saturday, Aug. 3 was the warmest Aug. 3 on record for several Wyoming communities, including Cheyenne, according to data from the National Weather Service in Cheyenne.
Yesterday reached a high of 94 degrees in the Cheyenne area, which surpassed the previous hottest Aug. 3 on record by 1 degree. The prior high was recorded in 1947.
Two cities beat the previous record by 5 degrees. Laramie’s 93-degree weather surpassed 2001’s 88-degree day. In Rawlins, yesterday’s high of 97 comfortably surpassed the 92 degrees it saw in 2020.
Chadron was the other community that saw a record-high temp for the day, with a high of 106, surpassing the prior high of 104.
From June 1 to Aug. 3, Cheyenne experienced 17 days with high temperatures over 90 degrees. Since 2020, the only year to see more was 2022, when there were 22 such days.
