CASPER, Wyo. — While several wildfires continue to burn across hundreds of thousands of acres in Wyoming, other parts of the state saw their first snowfall of the season on Monday.
On Monday, Jackson Hole residents awoke to the first snowfall of the season, as did residents in the areas surrounding Shoshone National Forest. Wyoming Department of Transportation webcams showed heavy snowfall in the areas of Wind River Lake and Togwotee Pass.
The snow comes as firefighters throughout the state work to quell a number of forest fires both large and small. On Sunday, the Bureau of Land Management reported that headway had been made in containing most of the bigger fires, though the wildfires continue to burn across more than 200,000 total acres.
Locally, Casper-area residents shouldn’t hold their breath waiting for snowfall any time soon; the National Weather Service in Riverton doesn’t predict temperatures to drop below 45 degrees in the coming week.
