CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The coming week will begin with the Cheyenne area under a fire weather watch, the National Weather Service in Cheyenne recently announced.
The fire weather watch will go into effect Monday at 10 a.m. and last until 8 p.m. Watches are put in effect when the combination of dry fuels and weather conditions support extreme fire danger.
Monday’s forecast includes a slight 30% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout the afternoon, with skies remaining mostly sunny throughout the day. It is also likely to be a blustery day, as the NWS in Cheyenne predicts wind gusts of up to 30 mph.
Monday night will see temperatures drop to a low of roughly 54 degrees as clouds begin to move in. Winds should die down after sundown, according to NWS in Cheyenne reports, falling to speeds of 10–15 mph.
Tuesday should again be sunny and clear, with a high of 84 degrees in the forecast. Light to moderate winds of 5–15 mph are expected.
