CASPER, Wyo. — Authorities are investigating an unidentified individual who was found dead near Mirror Lake in Albany County over the Fourth of July holiday.
According to a news release from the Albany County Sheriff’s Office, emergency responders were called after a deceased person was found late on Thursday, July 4 at the Mirror Lake Day Use area. The area and portions of Highway 130 were closed to the public throughout much of the following day as responders investigated the scene.
According to the release, there was no information available on the person and a cause of death was yet to be determined. There was also no immediate threat to the public, they said.
An investigation into the case is being handled by the Albany County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Division of Criminal Investigation Crime Scene Unit. The Laramie Police Department assisted in traffic control during the investigation on site, they said.
More information will be released when available. “We are saddened by this unfortunate discovery, but we remain committed to finding a resolution and bringing closure to the affected family,” the release said.
