CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A Cheyenne woman is facing multiple felony charges following an appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court Wednesday.
Court papers show that Amy Mcateer was read multiple charges including Felony Possession of Marijuana, Felony Possession of Spice, and a charge each of Possession With Intent to Deliver for both spice and marijuana.
Mcateer appeared before Circuit Court Judge Thomas Lee, via video teleconference. Mcateer was still in law enforcement custody at the time of the Initial Appearance on November 6.
During the hearing, Mcateer was given a bond amount of $5,000 cash or surety.
Court paperwork indicates that Mcateer was contacted after the execution of a search warrant on November 5, 2019, at a private home on the 4700 block of Linden Way. During the search, investigators say that several drug related items were found, including suspected marijuana, suspected spice, and over $42,000 in cash.
Police say the case dates back to an investigation from mid-October. Investigators conducted a surveillance of the home, and identified another individual in the case, identified as Kenneth L. Waters.
Waters was reportedly observed coming in and out of the home between October 11 and October 22nd. Officers also report a high traffic volume coming and going from the address.
An affidavit filed in the case says that various vehicles parked in the driveway of the home for brief amount time before leaving.
Officers also describe observing Waters leave the area and go to a parking lot near the 2500 block of Dell Range Boulevard, and meet with “various individuals for a brief amount of time.” The affidavit then describes that Waters would immediately travel back to his residence.
Court papers say that through information from various sources, and three controlled buys that were observed by investigators, a search warrant was applied for and was executed at the Linden Way address on November 5.
In addition to finding the over $42,000 in cash; investigators report finding five large bags of spice, with a combined weight of 2,845 grams, including packaging; 1,593 grams of suspected spice which were packaged in smaller bags, approximately 55 grams of suspected marijuana.
Police report that during an interview, Mcateer told them that Waters was a spice and marijuana distributor, claiming that the suspect purchased 3-6 pounds of spice, approximately every three weeks. She also accused Waters of distributing the spice to various people in the Cheyenne area.
Mcateer is reported in the affidavit to have also told officers that she and Waters had traveled to a marijuana dispensary in Fort Collins, Colorado to purchase two ounces of marijuana, every couple of weeks, on multiple trips.
Police say that Mcateer admitted she and Waters met various people at a parking lot on the 3700 block of Del Range Boulevard as well as Cahill Park in Cheyenne to conduct drug transactions.
Police say that Waters was arrested on November 5th, and was charged with five felony counts of Delivery of Spice, three counts of felony Delivery of Marijuana, and one misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana.
Waters’ case has been bound over to Laramie County Circuit Court, and awaits trial.
Mcateer is set to face a Preliminary Hearing at a later date to determine if her case will also be bound over.
All of those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Laramie County District Attorney’s Office.
