Man arrested for drugs and false reporting, claimed to have been kidnapped

CASPER, Wyo. —  A Colorado man has been charged in Albany County, with charges of False Reporting and felony Possession of Controlled Substance.

The Laramie, Wyoming Police Department says that on December 6, 2019; at approximately 11:35 pm; Laramie Police Officers responded to the Laramie Walmart, to speak with a subject who reported he was kidnapped from the Denver, Colorado area.

Laramie PD officials say that the FBI was contacted and assisted with the investigation due to the crime crossing state lines.

“As a result of the investigation, Harold Andrews, a 62-year-old Colorado resident, was arrested and charged with Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance and False Reporting to Authorities,” Laramie PD officials reported Tuesday afternoon.

Andrews’ bond has been set at fifteen-hundred dollars law enforcement says he remains incarcerated at the Albany County Detention Center.

Possession of a Controlled Substance, third or subsequent offense, is a felony punishable by imprisonment for a term not more than five years, a fine of not more than five thousand dollars, or both.

False Reporting to Authorities is a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for not more than six months, a fine of not more than seven hundred fifty dollars, or both;

All of those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Albany County District Attorney’s Office.
