Laramie man recommended for felony drug charge

Laramie Police say that a man who was reportedly beating on the back door of a residence was arrested after officers found controlled substances on his person.

According to the Laramie PD, on January 10, 2020 at approximately 8:45 pm officers responded to the 400 block of East Kearney Street, in Laramie, for the report of an unknown subject pounding on the back door of a residence.

As a result of the Officers’ investigation, Vassar J. Thomas, a 42-year-old Laramie resident, was arrested and charged with Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance and Disorderly Conduct.

Bond has not yet been set and Mr. Thomas remains incarcerated at the Albany County Detention Center.

Possession of a Controlled substance is a felony if any person is convicted for a third or subsequent offense under this paragraph, including convictions for violations of similar laws in other jurisdictions. It is punishable by imprisonment for a term of not more than five (5) years, a fine of not more than five thousand dollars ($5,000.00), or both.

All of those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Albany County District Attorney’s Office.
