Police arrest man, allege he was driving stolen vehicle

Lonnie Lieurance Jr.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Police say that they arrested a 28-year old man over the weekend after discovering that the vehicle he was driving had been reported stolen.

An affidavit filed by the Cheyenne Police Department says an officer pulled over a white Subaru Outback on February 9, 2020 after officers were advised by dispatch that the vehicle had been reported stolen.

The information came via the National Crime Information Center, otherwise known as NCIC, the United States’ central database for tracking crime-related information.

Court papers say that the officer identified the driver of the vehicle as Lonnie Lieurance Jr. Upon Lieuranc’s arrest, a subsequent search is said to have yielded a baggie of suspected methamphetamine.

Lieurance made his initial court appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on February 11, and was charged with a felony count of Receiving Stolen Property and a misdemeanor count of Possession of Methamphetamine read to him by Judge Lee.

According to Wyoming state statutes an individual who is convicted of Receiving Stolen Property greater than $1000 can face up to 10 years in prison and/or a fine up to $10,000.

All of those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Laramie County District Attorney’s Office.
