CHEYENNE, Wyo. – An Iowa man was arrested over the weekend after the Wyoming Highway Patrol reported finding 12 pounds of suspected marijuana in the man’s vehicle.
Eric James Garner made his initial appearance in Laramie County Court on February 11, 2020 to hear the felony charges of Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana and Possession of Marijuana read to him.
WHP says that on February 8, troopers say they pulled Garner over while he was traveling eastbound on I-80, for following a semi too closely and making an unsafe lane change in the late morning hours.
The affidavit filed in the case says that Garner originally refused to consent to the officer’s request to search his vehicle. The officer requested a drug sniffing K9 unit to come to the location. When the K9 unit was deployed it reportedly alerted law enforcement to something in the vehicle.
Court documents say that when the officer conducted a search of Garner’s vehicle, a suitcase and a black bag containing approximately 12 pounds of suspected marijuana were found.
During his initial appearance in court, Garner was given a $3,000 cash bond by Judge Lee.
All of those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Laramie County District Attorney’s Office.
