CASPER, Wyo. — Casper Police say that a suspect is facing two felony drug charges, as well as three misdemeanors, after contacting the suspect in the course of a REDDI investigation.
REDDI is a public awareness campaign asking citizens to Report Every Drunk Driver Immediately. Casper Police Officers say that such a report led to the arrest of 40-year-old Dennis Troy Howard during the early morning hours of May 4, 2020.
Howard faces a charge of Possession of Methamphetamine as well as a charge of Possession of Marijuana. Both charges are identified as being a third or subsequent charge for Howard, and are being prosecuted at the felony level.
The suspect also faces misdemeanor charges of Driving Under the Influence, Driving Under Suspension, and Driving Without Insurance.
Police responded to a call at approximately midnight on May 4, to the 700 block of Luker Lane in Casper, for a REDDI report, where they say they made contact with Howard.
“During course of investigation, controlled substances were located,” police write in an affidavit filed in Natrona County Circuit Court. “Based on this, and the information garnished during the investigation, officers procured a search warrant.”
Police searched a motel room where Howard was believed to be staying with another person, who was also contacted on the scene. During a search of the room, police say that officers located suspected controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.
Items seized reportedly include a digital scale, eight plastic containers with approximately 3.5 mg each of suspected marijuana, and two syringes and a glass pipe with suspected meth residue.
Officers also describe finding a Coca-Cola can which had a false top on it. Inside of a compartment inside the can, police located a jeweler’s baggie containing suspected methamphetamine.
Howard was transported to the Natrona County Detention Center without further reported incident. According to jail records he remains in custody on a $7,500 cash or surety bond.
The suspect was officially charged at an Initial Appearance in Natrona County Circuit Court on May 4, 2020.
All of those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Natrona County District Attorney’s Office.
