CASPER, Wyo. — The Casper Police Department says that a suspect involved in a chase from Converse County, was arrested after crossing over into Natrona County.
The Casper Police Department says that the arrest was a joint effort between themselves and the Converse County Sheriff’s Office.
Mark Wayt of Casper, was arrested in the incident, he was booked into the jail on recommended felony charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance With Intent to Deliver and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
In addition, Wayt was also recommended for seven misdemeanor charges including Driving While Under the Influence and Attempting to Elude.
Casper Police say that the incident happened at approximately 8:00 pm on Tuesday, May 19, 2020. The suspect, who reportedly failed to yield to Converse County Sheriff’s deputies, made his way into Natrona County at which time Casper PD says they assisted in safely bringing the pursuit to an end.
Officers reportedly followed the vehicle to a home at the 900 block of North Lincoln Street. Police say they made contact with several individuals, one believed to be the driver of the suspect vehicle.
Over seven ounces of suspected marijuana were found in the vehicle as well as open alcoholic beverages. After obtaining a search warrant for the home, officers say they also found drugs and drug paraphernalia.
“With their training of evaluating and identifying potentially impaired drivers, officers observed the driver showing obvious signs of impairment,” a Casper PD statement said Wednesday. “Further investigation revealed the driver had a suspended driver’s license and over a dozen previous DUI convictions.”
