The Cheyenne Police Department has announced they are investigating a homicide that occurred over the weekend in the capital city.
Police have identified the victim as Aaron Briggs, age 36, of Cheyenne.
Cheyenne PD Officers say they responded to the 500 block of Central Avenue shortly after 11:00 pm, May 22, and found Briggs had suffered an apparent gunshot wound.
Police report that Briggs was transported to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center and succumbed to his injuries.
“Officers determined the shooting occurred at the Lariat Motel, 600 Central Ave,” an official Cheyenne PD statement said Sunday, May 24. “Officers have identified a person of interest in the shooting, but at this point in the investigation cannot release the person’s name.”

This case remains under investigation by the Cheyenne Police Department.
All of those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Laramie County District Attorney’s Office.
