Suspect in custody in Lander shooting incident

Police in the Wyoming community of Lander say that a suspect has been taken into custody, in an ongoing shooting investigation.

“As of 2:00 PM this afternoon, a suspect has been placed into custody without incident with respect to the incident that occurred in the 100 block of Jefferson Street on Thursday, May 28th,” Lander Police said on social media, Friday. “There is no further threat to the community at this time. LPD would like to thank the community for their cooperation.”

On May 28, 2020 at approximately 5:50 am, Lander Police say they were dispatched to the area of the 100 block of Jefferson Street l, in Lander, for a shots fired call.

Upon arrival officers officers did not immediately locate any shooting victims.

However, a short time later, a separate call was received about a possible shooting victim being located on North Second Street outside city limits in Fremont County.

Officers were able to locate the shooting victim and the victim was transported for medical treatment.

The 100 block of Jefferson Street is currently closed at this time. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Lander Police Department at 307-332-3401.

Identities of persons involved have not been released by officials.
