CHEYENNE, Wyo. – A 34-year old man was arrested by the Cheyenne Police Department Police, otherwise known as CPD, after they allege that he attacked another person with a knife.
Obtained court documents say that Daniel Carlson was read a felony count of Aggravated Assault and Battery – Injury with a Deadly Weapon during his initial court appearance on May 28th, 2020.
The CPD says that they dispatched one of their officers during the evening hours of May 27th, 2020, to investigate a report of a stabbing.
The officer says that the alleged victim reported to them that Carlson had stabbed them on the top of the head while the two of them were sitting by an overpass footbridge that goes over South Greely Highway.
According to the officer, the alleged victim had a laceration on his head that resembled a “U” shape.
Court papers say that law enforcement personnel made contact with Carlson at a nearby stream in the 200 block of Central Ave.
“Carlson had several knives on him and officers found other knives near the steam bed. One knife found by the stream had a blue paracord partially wrapped around the handle. Carlson had an empty knife sheath attached to his belt that appeared to have the same blue paracord around it,” one of the officers reported.
An affidavit filed in the case says that the officer spoke with Carlson who stated that he had been at the stream all day and that the knives located by the water were his.
While speaking with police, it is alleged that Carlson admitted several times to “cutting” and “scalping” another person.
Any individual convicted of Aggravated Assault and Battery in Wyoming with a Deadly Weapon can face up to 10 years in prison and/or a fine of up to 10k.
All of those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Laramie County District Attorney’s Office.
