CHEYENNE, Wyo. – A 44-year old woman was arrested and now and faces recommended felony charges of Methamphetamine Possession and Child Endangering with a Controlled Substance.
Court paperwork says that Tayna Llerenas was arrested by the Cheyenne Police Department during the mid-evening hours on June, 2nd, 2020.
According to an affidavit filed in the case, an officer pulled Llerenas over in the 300 block of South Greeley Highway for failure to maintain her lane.
The officer reports that while making contact with Llerenas they observed a juvenile located in the backseat of the vehicle.
During the course of the investigation, a K9 unit was deployed around the exterior of Llerenas’ vehicle to conduct a free-air sniff. Court documents allege that the K9 unit indicated the presence of the odor of a controlled substance.
Police say that a subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a baggie that contained approximately 18.4 grams of suspected Methamphetamine between the passenger seat and center console. A clear baggie containing crushed blue pills were also said to be located inside of the vehicle.
Llerenas was transported to the Cheyenne Police Department without any reported incident, according to law enforcement.
The affidavit goes on to say that during an interview with authorities, Llerenas denied that the suspected methamphetamine was hers, but did advise that she had been a recent user of the narcotic.
Llerenas made her initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on June 3rd, 2020 where she was officially charged with Methamphetamine Possession and felony Child Endangering with a Controlled Substance.
