CHEYENNE, Wyo. – A 51-year old man was arrested by the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office, otherwise known as the LCSO, after they allege that one of their deputy’s discovered him to be in possession of Methamphetamine during a traffic stop.

According to an affidavit filed in the case, Charles Swank was pulled over by a deputy with the LCSO during the evening hours of June 6th, 2020 for operating a Harley Davidson without any brake lights.

The deputy reports that when Swank pulled over he got off the bike in a rapid manner that caused it to fall over.

“I observed Swank walk away from the bike, in front of a truck that was parked in a driveway. It appeared that he was trying to leave the scene,” the deputy said.

Court papers say that Swank walked back to the motorcycle with his hands up after the trooper commanded him to do so. Swank was then ordered to lay prone on the ground.

The trooper says that while Swank was on the ground, a clear plastic baggie with a crystal substance was located to be in his possession. The total weight of the baggie was said to be .65 grams.

The affidavit reports that the crystal substance was field tested and came back with a presumptive positive for being Methamphetamine.

According to the trooper, a review of Swank’s criminal history uncovered that Swank had two prior narcotic convictions.

Obtained court documents say that Swank made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on June 10th, 2020 where he was read the recommended charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance – third offense, read to him by Judge Denise Nau.

No bond information was available at this time.
