CHEYENNE, Wyo – A Cheyenne woman was arrested by the police department after it is alleged that she took over $3500 worth of merchandise from a store without paying over the course of multiple visits.

Kara Casey made her initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on August 5th, 2020, to hear the felony charge of Shoplifting read to her, according to court paperwork.

Officials with the Cheyenne Police Department say officers were dispatched to a business on the 1900 block of Dell Range Blvd on July 28th in reference to a report of a larceny where they made contact with the store manager.

According to the affidavit filed in the case, authorities were shown store surveillance that allegedly shows Casey using the self-checkout counter to buy some items but not for a 70-inch television.

Police go on to say that after reviewing additional security footage Casey was also seen taking items from the store on July 24th and 25th without paying for them.

“All items taken over the 3 separate events of 7/24/2020, 7/25/2020 and 7/28/2020 were valued at $3543.78. All events were captured on surveillance footage at the store,” police stated in the affidavit.

All of those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Laramie County District Attorney’s Office.
