CHEYENNE, Wyo. – According to documents from the Laramie County Circuit Court, a 43-year old man faces three felony charges after being pulled over by police for speeding on August 7th.
An affidavit filed in the case says that an officer with the Cheyenne Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Jason Wilkinson during the evening hours of August 7th, 2020.
“I contacted the driver, Jason Wilkinson, who had slurred speech, red blood-shot and watery eyes and slow responses to my questions,” the officer reported in the affidavit.
Court papers say that the officer then had Wilkinson perform standard field sobriety tests.
“He failed all tests,” the officer stated.
Police say that a criminal history check indicated that Wilkinsons had two prior DUI’s with in the last ten years.
During a search of Wilkinson’s vehicle law enforcement located 6 grams of heroin without packaging in a small plastic bag, as well as 6.7 grams of methamphetamine without packaging in three seperate clear plastic bags, according to the affidavit.
Police say they also located a glass pipe in the center console of the vehicle with burnt residue inside of it.
Wilkinson appeared in Laramie County Circuit Court on Monday, August 10th, to hear the recommended felony charges of DUI- Third Offense, Possession of Heroin and Possession of Methamphetamine read to him.
If convicted on all felony counts, Wilkinson could face up to 21 years in prison and or a fine of up to 40k.
All of those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Laramie County District Attorney’s Office.
