CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Officials with the Cheyenne Police Department say they have arrested a 38-year old man after it is alleged that he pinned another person between the front bumper of his vehicle and another car door.

Paperwork obtained from the Laramie County Circuit Court says that an officer was dispatched to a location within the city limits to investigate a report of an aggravated assault during the early evening hours of November 20th, 2020.

The officer states in the affidavit that when they arrived on scene they made contact with an accuser who alleged that Travis Garton had used the front bumper of his vehicle to pin them up against another vehicle’s car door.

The officer reports that they observed a dent in the door of the car and visible bruising and swelling in the accuser’s leg.

Court papers go on to say that investigators spoke with a witness who said they saw the alleged victim’s leg pinned against the car door and that they also observed that the wheels of Garton’s truck were spinning at the same time.

Garton made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on November 23rd, 2020 to hear the recommended charge of Aggravated Assault -Bodily Injury read to him by Judge Lee. If convicted, Garton could face up to 10 years in prison and/or a fine of up to 10k.

All of those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Laramie County District Attorney’s Office. Information is provided by the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office.
