CHEYENNE, Wyo. – A 24-year old woman has been charged with a felony count of Interfering With a Peace officer following an allegation that she kicked a police officer who was placing her under arrest.
According to paperwork filed in Laramie County Circuit Court, Destiny Williams was arrested by the Cheyenne Police Department during the early morning hours of November 20th, 2020.
An affidavit filed in the case says that police were called to the 1600 block of Stillwater Ave at approximately 2:20 a.m. on the morning of November 20th to help investigate a physical disturbance.
The affidavit goes on to report that law enforcement was placing Williams under arrest for allegedly being involved in a fight inside of the location when police say she kicked the arresting officer.
“The officer placed her into handcuffs and was escorting her with another officer to his patrol vehicle. Williams became agitated and upset. Williams stopped walking, lifted her right leg in front of her and kicked backwards.”police officials stated int he affidavit.
Court papers say that the officer was later treated at Cheyenne Medical Regional Center for possible injuries.
“Williams was transported to the Laramie County Detention Center and remained very agitated,” the affidavit said.
